First opened in 1952, the Albee Elementary School has seen lots of children over the years. It had a good run, until attendance started dropping in the early 2000's. In 2010, they decided to close their doors and merge the children with another nearby school, leaving the building empty and on the market. The current owners bought the building with plans of turning it into a haunted attraction, not knowing it may actually be haunted. After hearing some local legends, and having a few experiences of their own, they asked us to come in and take a look.

About The Building

Typical single story elementary school. Long hallway with classrooms on either side, turning into a "L" shape, with more classes towards the buildings main doors. Office, storage rooms, bathrooms. Kitchen, gym and other rooms at one end.

Equipment Placement

We had 5 cameras recording.. IR cam 1: in one of the classrooms, where Halloween props are being stored; IR cam 2: at the south end of the building, facing north down the hallway; IR cam 3: at the north end of the building, facing south down the hallway; IR cam 4: in the gym, facing toward the kitchen; IR cam 5: in the kitchen.

We had 6 voice recorders running.. one on the south end by the camera, one on the north end by the camera, two in classrooms on the east end of the building, one in the kitchen/gym area, and the 6th was carried around by teams as they investigated. We also had an EMF detector, a K-II meter, a thermal detector, 2 digital thermometers, a hand-held video camera with night vision, and a digital camera for photos.. along with our other usual equipment.

Setting Up

We got to the location around 8:00 pm. After talking with the client for a few minutes, we started setting up equipment. We set up "central base" just outside of the building, close enough that our cables would reach. Once we had the cameras set up and running.. we took photos, temp. and EMF readings.
